Please note that, due to the complexity of specializations, you should be prepared for a lot of rapid, back-and-forth communication with us to design this backer content. For more information about how specializations work, see our blog post here: Specializations drastically change the way players approach battles. Really interesting game that I think I'll keep going back to when I get that strategy itch. This tier allows you to work with our team to design a specialization for the game. It's crazy how the Mortal Empires campaign has 117 factions playing against each other, and a few of them have proceeded to curbstomp me even on easy because I don't know what the hell I'm doing-but I'm getting there. It's like Civ and Warlords had a baby and then you "add in" the actual tactical battles (which I erroneously thought was most of the game-it isn't, it's the campaign map.) Throw in a big pinch of Heroes of Might and Magic too. On this sale, after watching my brother play and seeing a few tourney vids I picked up Total War: Warhammer 2 (or however the order of that goes). It's kind of mind-blowing how every single quest I ran across, no matter how minor, has voice-acting and some thought put into it-certainly there are NO generic "fetch 10 boars livers" quests that you see so much in MMOs. The world really opens up once you are out of White Orchard too (which is actually pretty big) and I love open-world stuff it must be said. By a few hours in I started to *really like* Geralt because he's a dry smartass (like me) and the cutscenes become far less when you are not doing main quests. Then I tried it again recently and it got me. The movement does take a bit of getting used to but 3rd person games always seem to be this way. Having to play a preset character wasn't to my liking, and all the cut scenes were a bit tedious. The first time I tried W3 (xbox 360) it also didn't grab me. Salewise, I'm seriously eyeing Doom Eternal which comes in a penny shy of the coupon, but retro shooters like Ion Fury and AMID EVIL also look interesting.

It's not essential for Wild Hunt (really, reading the books is better preparation), but it gave me a better grounding in the world and increased my appreciation for the advances on all fronts in the third game. I had a similar experience to pauli with W1 and then W2 not holding my interest beyond the demo, but I forced myself to go back and push through it before the release of Wild Hunt and found that once you get over the controls and through the opening act, there's quite a good game.

I've tried twice to get through it over the last couple years, and I've still probably got dozens of hours to go.ĪC:Odyssey compares pretty well to The Witcher 3 in its quest designs, though little compares to the Witcher series in terms of writing. Odyssey is almost independent as a game and has a really strong protagonist a, but it does end up being almost too sprawling for its own good. AC:Odyssey, I didn't enjoy the story of Origins as much, but it's worth playing if only for the coolness of getting to explore ancient Egypt. Definitely worth it for the price, but also note that it's on GamePass if you have it. It's not a revolution in gameplay compared to its predecessor (which itself was kind of a mediocre souls game, though I liked the sci-fi setting well enough), but more of a pivot to a really elaborate multi-layered level design that changes significantly as the events of the plot play out. You really want to be playing with a controller. Click to expand. The Surge series is a souls clone.
